This is a really cool concept, it’s essentially like an iTunes Store for Mac games, with an easy window to manage all the games. I couldn’t resist the free games offers, though, and I’m looking forward to killing time over the Christmas holidays with some of these games.

The first bundle, the Pangea Arcade, has three classic arcade game recreations: Missile Command (Warheads), Centipede (Firefall), and Asteroids (Nucleus). They’ve been updated with slightly different game play, and modern graphics, but they are lots of fun.

My favourite so far is Nucleus, which takes the Asteroids idea to the next level. Instead of simply blasting away at asteroids until you crash and die, you have to capture electrons that are left after you completely blow away the rocks, and then take them to the nucleus which is somewhere on the game map. You start with one electron, then when you’ve completed that, the nucleus becomes a singularity / black hole, which you must steer clear of! The asteroids then become some kind of crystalline rocks, and the next level begins, where you have to collect 2 electrons, and so on.

Anyway, you have from now until Tuesday to collect 5 free games. Talk about a nice Christmas present!
